Every day in Bangladesh, millions of people consume water that contains arsenic, which is naturally present in the ground water in many parts of the country and has led to skin lesions and cancers. Many solutions to this problem have been tried, such as digging deeper wells and removing arsenic from the groundwater with filters, but none have been trusted and found as long-term solutions. In 2010, the HEALS study[1] assessed that 34 to 77 million of Bangladeshis present a risk of illness due to water arsenic contamination.
