Grameen Intel Social Business Ltd. (GISB) focuses on using technology to help the world’s underprivileged population. Technology, innovation and social business ethos lies at the core of GISB’s foundation pillars. As the name indicates the joint venture is a brainchild of Grameen Trust and Intel Corporation. In 2007 Intel chairman Mr. Craig Barrett’s visit to Bangladesh and subsequent consultation with Nobel Peace Laureate Muhammad Yunus brought out the inspiration for a technology based social business; it is in this light that GISB was founded on 2009 as the first Social Business in Information Technology
