RUC Yunus Center was invited to speak at the global social summit conference

Yunus Center for Social Business & Microfinance, Renmin University of China (YCRUC) (hereinafter referred to as YCRUC) from November 6 to 9, 2017 participated in a Global Social enterprise Summit in Paris (Global Social Business Summit) and its academic conference. Zhao meng, director of the yunus center, was invited to make a speech at the meeting, and presided over the academic discussion and paper comments on "social enterprise and entrepreneurship".

The 50 Yunus Social Business Center set up by business schools from more than 40 countries, attended the meeting. The Paris city government also sent representatives to the conference, and said that the summer Olympic Games, to be held in Paris in 2024, would be the most Inclusive in history. The Olympic committee will use the Olympic Games to build Paris into a "city of social undertakings", with the economic opportunity created by the Olympics to promote the sustainable employment of vulnerable groups in Paris. Lunch at the conference is provided by a restaurant that hires and trains refugees. The restaurant is a social enterprise which not only solves the problem of refugee employment, but also strictly adheres to the all-round environmental protection of enterprises and the public welfare of the community.

Zhao introduced the work of the yunus center at the meeting. He said that the mission of the center is to promote the development of Chinese social enterprise groups along with cooperative partners, through the construction of intellectual, human, financial and policy and other infrastructure. He especially mentioned “ The China's Development of Social Enterprise Initiative in Beijing” launched by and 16 major social domestic enterprises promote organization jointly  in June 11, and “The declaration of China's social enterprise development in Dhaka” issued by Yunus centers from Hong Kong and Taiwan in July. At present, the Beijing initiative is promoting the implementation of the project in various aspects. In terms of social enterprise certification, the team from RUC Yunus center and the center for civil society research at Peking University jointly developed the Chinese social enterprise certification framework. The framework has been officially used in social enterprises by China Charity Fair. Up to now, China Charity Fair has received certification applications from nearly 500 institutions. Renmin Business School is organizing experts to conduct due diligence on the application agencies.

In terms of the assessing and investing of social influence. YCRUC, China Alliance of Social Value Investment, China Social Entrepreneur Foundation, NPI, Yifang Foundation and SEstar jointly held a seminar, discussing how to gather strength and exchange, to develop rigorous unified social impact assessment tool. In academic research, YCRUC, Center for Civil Society Studies of Peking University and Center for Social Entrepreneurship Research of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, as the early stage organizations of the launch, gathered scholars from home and abroad universities, discussed the preliminary conception of the establishment of "China social innovation business collaborative research network", in early November during the Beijing Forum. In the aspect of teaching and training, Center for Civil Society Studies of Peking University developed and implemented the annual "Advanced study and training project for new generation social entrepreneurship". In terms of promoting policies, Center for Civil Society Studies of Peking University dominates the discussions with a number of local governments for the test project of supporting social enterprises, and dominates the study of the feasibility of forming the relevant policies and regulations on social enterprises in in the long-term.

Participants at the global social business summit were surprised by the development of Chinese social enterprises. At the meeting, YCRUC, HEC Paris, HEC Montreal and other schools reached a preliminary agreement on the course cooperation.
